MCC IAS Attends PNHS Confab 2014

Some members of the MCC Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS) faculty and student body attended the Philippine National Historical Society’s 35th National Conference on Local and National History held last October 23-25, 2014 at the University of Northern Philippines, Heritage City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

With the theme: History and the Northern Philippines, Local History in the Context of National History, historians from all over the Philippines presented papers germane to the topic.

MCC Delegates with the PNHS President Dr. Bernardita R. Churchill
The delegation from MCC was headed by Atty. Robert John I. Donesa, College Secretary and Mr. Angelito G. David, IAS faculty member. The student attendees were Princess Borlongan, Kristina Mae Ventura, Ellah Manalo, Kevin Garcia, Paul Marty Sandig, Carmela Pelayo, Jason Manalang, Joan Mandani, Marie Gel Moreno, Glaiza Royo, Shaira Pangilinan, Marie Khaina Pamintuan and Erika Miranda. According to organizers, MCC’s delegation is the biggest.

This the first time for the MCC AB History students to attend a national history conference. The Heritage City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur, is a fitting venue for events like this. The City, which flourished in the 18th century, is like a giant history book which MCC students read with profit.
